By Christopher Magan Dayton Daily News JEFFERSON TWP., Montgomery County — The driver of the Mercedes-Benz that struck and killed 17-year-old Julian Hill on Friday lived only a quarter mile from the teen. A relative said the driver, Dexter S. Moore II, 37, had recently moved into the home of his mother, Blanche Moore, on Derby Road. Moore was unemployed. He had lived in the Washington, D.C. area and attended Howard University where his father, Dexter S. Moore Sr., is a chemistry professor, said Charles Sanders, Moore's uncle and former Waynesville mayor. A check of court records in the Washington area showed a man with the same name, physical description and birthday as Moore had been charged with more than 10 moving violations and other crimes in the past decade. Charges include speeding and driving without a license. Montgomery County sheriff's deputies believe Moore was driving 75 mph when his Mercedes crested a small hill and struck Hill, a Jefferson High School junior who had just gotten off a packed school bus in front of his home. Hill was killed instantly. "Kids were standing around him screaming," said Samantha Johnson, a neighbor. Moore is being held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond and is expected to be charged Monday with aggravated vehicular homicide. Corinna White, 37, Moore's girlfriend, who was a passenger in the Mercedes, was released Saturday from Miami Valley Hospital on Saturday after being treated for injuries sustained in the crash. The Montgomery County coroner released Hill's body to the Green-Hill-Jordan Funeral Home in Hamilton, but no arrangements have been set. Norris Brown, superintendent of Jefferson Twp. Local Schools, said grief counselors would be available for students at the school Monday. "They're devastated," Brown said of students who witnessed the crash. "It's going to take time for them to get a grip with what is going on in their lives."
